BYT Auditions

The Bellevue Youth Theatre is an inclusive recreational program for ages 5-19, with the focus on teen participants.  Persons with disabilities, families and older adults are allowed to participate.  The emphasis of the theatre is to build self-esteem, teamwork and confidence in youth while performing in a supportive environment.  Children 11 and younger, and first-time participants, may have limited roles.  For more information, please call 425-452-7155.

Winter Auditions

Wednesday, Jan 2, and Thursday, Jan 3:
Bellevue Youth Theatre, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for: 

  • "The Little Prince"
  • "Exile of Lord Rama/What About Us"
  • "Bobby's World of Adventure"
  • "A Midsummer Night's Dream"  

Friday, Jan 4:
South Bellevue Community Center, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for: 

  • "The Little Prince" ONLY 

Actor is 5 to 10 years old on January 22- READ THESE STEPS!

Step 1:  READ

Step 2: REGISTER for one cast ONLY (do not register for more than one cast).  There is limited space available for each cast, and registration closes on January 3. 

Step 3:  FILL OUT paperwork. 

     Participant Information - Ages 5-10  
     Rehearsal Commitment and Bio Form 
     Background Check (parents only - mandatory for parents of 7 and younger; optional for parents of ages 8 and older who may wish to go backstage) 

Step 4.  ATTEND mandatory parent orientation on January 10.

Step 5.  ATTEND first meeting on: 

  • "The Little Prince" - January 22 at South Bellevue Community Center 
  • "Exile of Lord Rama/What About Us," "Bobby's World of Adventure," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" - January 22 at Bellevue Youth Theatre

PARENTS OF ACTORS AGES 7 AND YOUNGER ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND;  ALL PARENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

The Little Prince 
This is a fantasy play with lots of unique roles for all ages.  Come be a part of a story that travels to other worlds!

  • Register for course 1900451 if you are 5-10 (30 spots available). 
  • Rehearsal location:  South Bellevue Community Center 
  • First meeting:  Tuesday, January 22 at 5 p.m. 
  • Rehearsals begin:  Wednesday, January 23 at 5 p.m. 
  • Rehearsal time:  Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. 
  • Tech Week:  The week of March 25 at Bellevue Youth Theatre - NO CONFLICTS 
  • Performs:  March 29-April 7 - NO CONFLICTS 

Exile of Lord Rama/What About Us  
These are two one-act plays.  "Exile of Lord Rama" is a classic tale told with dance.  "What About Us" examines a timely topic impacting our young people today. 

Cast members 10 and younger will have the option to be in just "Exile of Lord Rama" or both plays.  Parents should note that "What About Us" may handle subject material not suitable for some children.

  • Rehearsal location:  Bellevue Youth Theatre 
  • First meeting:  Tuesday, January 22
         5 p.m. for actors ages 5-10 
         6 p.m. for actors ages 11 and older 
  • Rehearsals begin:  Wednesday, January 23 at 5 p.m. 
  • Rehearsal time:  Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. 
  • Tech Week:  The week of April 15 at Bellevue Youth Theatre - NO CONFLICTS 
  • Performs:  April 19-28 - NO CONFLICTS 

Bobby's World of Adventure   
Trapped in a world surrounded by familiar storybook characters, Bobby must figure out how to return home.  Great parts for all ages!  This is a new musical.  A singing audition is required (for ages 11 and older).

  • First meeting:  Tuesday, January 22  
         5 p.m. for actors ages 5-10 
         6 p.m. for actors ages 11 and older

  • Performs:  May 3-11 - NO CONFLICTS 

A Midsummer Night's Dream   
Ready for Shakespeare?  This is a great show for actors who wants to explore this fantasy work with our own resident actor, Kevin McLean.   

  • Register for course 1900454 if you are 5-10 (25 spots available). 
  • Rehearsal location:  Crossroads Community Center
  • First meeting:  Tuesday, January 22
         5 p.m. for actors ages 5-10 
         6 p.m. for actors ages 11 and older 
  • Rehearsals begin:  Wednesday, January 23 at 5 p.m. 
  • Rehearsal time:  Monday through Friday, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
  • Tech Week:  The week of May 13 at Bellevue Youth Theatre - NO CONFLICTS 
  • Performs:  May 17-25 - NO CONFLICTS

Fees:
   Residents - Free
   Non-residents - $150

Refunds (for non-Bellevue residents):

  • If you withdraw seven calendar days prior to the start of class (first meeting), you will receive a $140 refund.
  • If you withdraw one to six days prior to the start of class (first meeting), your refund will be $75.
  • If you withdraw on or after the first class (first meeting), you will not receive a refund. 
  • NOTE:  The withdrawal must be processed.  Voicemail and email requests do not constitute "being processed."  You must speak to someone live to consider you or your child withdrawn.  If you are calling on the weekend, you may call Bellevue Parks & Community Services' main line at 425-452-6885 and press 1 to be transferred to someone live.
  • In addition, you will not be refunded if you don't like your part or feel you don't have enough lines.
