The farm's programs emphasize its uniqueness, with children's recreational programs, seasonal camps, pony care and farm experience classes, farm-themed tours, and many volunteer opportunities.

Kelsey Creek and Kids Connections Summer Day Camps

OUT ON THE FARM - June 25–29
Gather eggs, get up close with the rabbits and learn what it takes to care for the smaller animals on the farm. This week will include an educational presentation by “The Parrot Lady” and her talented trick birds. End the week with a tractor-pulled wagon ride.


SCIENCE ADVENTURES
- July 2, 3, 5, 6
Experiments galore! Stir up some cool concoctions using common household items. Each day will be filled with wacky experiments, outdoor games and activities. This week campers will participate in a hands-on discovery workshop provided by a special guest from Mad Science.


ANIMAL KINGDOM
- July 9-13
Discover the wonders of animals.  Campers will learn how to care for pets, as well as explore the world of creatures large and small.  This week will include a field trip to a local place of interest.


EXPLORE NATURE
- July 16-20
Walk the forest trails at Kelsey Creek Farm Park.  Create your own binoculars to assist you on a nature scavenger hunt, and get a close look at small creatures in the Northwest.  This week will include a field trip to a local park or beach.


SPORTS AND GAMES FOR ALL
- July 23-27
Run relays, challenge yourself through an obstacle course and participate in a variety of active sports and games.  This week will include a special activity on site.  Join us as we celebrate the week with Camp Olympics, complete with inflatable fun.


YOUNG FARMERS
- July 30-August 3
Open the barn door and get to know some of the larger animals at the farm.  Go on a goat walk, and make a tasty treat for the pig.  Help with barn chores, and you will be rewarded with a tractor-pulled wagon ride.  This week will include a field trip to a local park or beach.


EARTH SCIENCE
- August 6-10
Explore the wonders of the Earth.  Create a volcano, learn about rocks and fossils, and discover ways to protect the environment.  This week will include a special guest.  Explore the world of paleontology with Geo Adventures, and go home with your very own fossil. 


BEAT THE HEAT
- August 13-17
We'll be splishin' and splashin' our way through the week.  Enjoy a water carnival complete with an inflatable waterslide.  Get ready because we're going to get wet!  This week will include a field trip to Robinswood Park for a water carnival.

WORLD OF MAKE-BELIEVE - June 25-29

Hike and explore the park for unique plants, bugs and animals.  Design your own binoculars to use when we go bug hunting.  See how many different tiny creatures you can find.  This week will include a field trip to a local park or beach.

FARM ANIMAL FRIENDS - August 20-24

Focus on a different animal each day.  This week will include a trip to Kelsey Creek Farm.  Take part in a farm chore and go on a tractor-pulled wagon ride.

Art Camps

GO GO WITH VAN GOGH ART CAMP
This camp offers fine arts on the farm, inspired by the Kelsey Creek Farm environment.  Your elementary-aged child will celebrate individual creative expressions through exploration of multiple media.  Paint with colorful acrylics, sketch on the farm, develop watercolor style with color theory exploration, sculpt with molding clay, create collages and use oil pastels, too.  Dress for creative mess, and bring your playful imagination.  Instructor Diane Culhane is a renowned artist in the Pacific Northwest, with a Master's Degree in Art Education and extensive teaching experience.  Her work is represented in galleries and shows across the country.  For more information, please see www.DianeCulhaneArt.com.  

CARTOONIVERSITY DAY CAMP
Explore the art of cartooning in-depth with local Editorial Columnist/Humorous Illustrator, Jeff Johnson (www.cartooniversity.com).  Areas of study include character development, expressions, directional views, action poses, backgrounds, perspective and lettering.  Daily projects include blank puzzles, flip-book animation, character profiles and comic strips!

Equine Camps

INTRODUCTION TO BASIC HORSEMANSHIP DAY CAMP
Experience the wonderful world of horses in a small group setting.  Students will learn riding balance, ground skills, independent seat and leading.  Enjoy games, crafts, a tractor-pulled wagon ride and a Western-style picnic in the park. 

PONY DAY CAMP
Experience a camp packed with pony activities at Kelsey Creek Farm.  Assist in grooming, saddling, care and feeding.  This week's camp will include:  pony rides, equine craft projects and games.  End the week with a tractor-pulled wagon ride and a Western-style cookout.

Mini Day Camps

LITTLE FARMERS CAMP
Explore life on the farm.  Campers will meet Kelsey Creek Farm's resident farm animals and make treats for them.  Create crafts and play games in this special half-day camp with Jayne Ash.  She combines 25 years of early childhood education experience with her knowledge of animals to actively engage children in the joys of farm life.

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE FARM
Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books help children compare their lives based on electricity and modern conveniences with the lives of Laura and Mary.  Grind wheat and coffee, churn butter, hammer nails, pump water and play dress-up.  Add in crafts and games to create special memories of a life long ago.  Jayne Ash combine 25 years of early childhood education experience with her knowledge of animals to actively engage children in the joys of farm life.

Farm Programs

FUN ON THE FARM
These adult/child farm classes include Mrs. D Cooking, puppetry, farm walks, crafts, a pony ride, stories and games.  Each month will focus on a different theme:  May - Farm Animals, and June - Flowers on the Farm.  Adult/child teams only.

Summer Volunteering

KELSEY CREEK FARM SUMMER ART VOLUNTEERS
You will assist the Go Go Van Gogh art camp instructor and children ages 6-11 with daily classroom activities.  Qualifications include:  enjoy working with children, able to play games with children during recess, desire to mentor, self-motivated, capable of understanding and following directions with a positive attitude.  Volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Background Check and provide their Social Security number.  Limit 1 (ONE) session per participant for either the Farm, Art, Equine or Little Farmers summer volunteer program. 

LITTLE FARMERS CAMP VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers will work with children as they explore farm life, do farm chores, play games and do crafts.  Qualifications include:  enjoy working with children ages 4-6, willingness to learn, self-motivated, capable of understanding and following directions, and a positive attitude.  Volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Background Check and provide their Social Security number.  Limit 1 (ONE) session per participant for either the Farm, Art, Equine or Little Farmers summer volunteer program. 

SUMMER FARM VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers will help with the animal chores, participate in special projects and learn responsible animal care in this week-long program.  Qualifications include:  understanding and following directions, ability to be on your feet for a physically active day, and tolerance for being outside and working in a farm environment near animals, hay, vegetation and dust.  Volunteers are required to start on Monday, complete a Criminal Background Check and provide their Social Security number.  Limit 1 (ONE) session per participant for either the Farm, Art, Equine or Little Farmers summer volunteer program. 

EQUINE VOLUNTEERS
Learn about horses as you work directly with children in the equine programs.  Qualifications include:  being comfortable working with horses and children, understanding and following directions, ability to be on your feet for a physically active day, and tolerance for being outside and working in a farm environment near animals, hay, vegetation and dust.   Volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory training and pass a skills test.  Training is Saturday, June 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.  Volunteers are required to start on Monday, complete a Criminal Background Check and provide their Social Security number.  Limit 1 (ONE) session per participant for either the Farm, Art, Equine or Little Farmers summer volunteer program.
